00:00–03:00 · local · every night · four US houses
Open from midnight to 3 a.m. Your time.
A live house for the hours when everyone you know is asleep: a lobby, channels, private talks and creators’ podcasts, by text, voice or video. At 3 a.m. it all ends, and the screen tells you to go to bed.
Which house is yours?
When it opens, every house keeps the same hours: midnight to 3 a.m., local.
| House | Local time | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Eastern You | --:-- | Midnight to 3 a.m. |
| Central You | --:-- | Midnight to 3 a.m. |
| Mountain You | --:-- | Midnight to 3 a.m. |
| Pacific You | --:-- | Midnight to 3 a.m. |
A night in the house
What happens in a night?
When Darkhaus opens, a night goes something like this.
-
Any hour
Browse profiles
Look through people’s profiles at any time of day, and add the ones you’d like to talk to tonight to your list.
-
00:00
Your house opens
Everyone who comes in lands in the lobby: text for everyone, voice for whoever wants it, and you can see who’s here.
-
00:30
Find a channel
Creators open text, voice and video channels under topics. Each one is made for tonight only.
-
01:15
Ask for a private talk
Pick someone from your list. If they’re online, they get your request; if they accept, it’s the two of you, by voice or by video.
-
02:00
Catch a podcast
A creator goes live. Listen in, raise your hand, and you might be brought up on stage.
-
03:00
Goodnight
Every room in the house ends, and the screen tells you to go to bed.
03:00
What happens at 3 a.m.?
Every house closes at 3:00 a.m. local time, every night. What was said that night doesn’t follow you into the morning.
Nothing is recorded or transcribed, and no AI listens. Voice and video run through our servers, so no other user ever sees your IP address.
Ends at 03:00
- Every channel, chat, private talk and podcast in the house
- The night’s messages, deleted
- Every voice and video connection
Stays
- Your profile, which anyone can browse
- Your list of people to talk to, private to you
- Reports, kept so staff can review them
Deleted messages can sit in encrypted backups until those expire on the host’s schedule.
Safety
Is it safe?
Strangers at 2 a.m. need rules. These are the house’s.
-
Adults only
Darkhaus is for people 18 and over.
-
Not a dating app
No dating and no adult content, anywhere in the house.
-
Report and block, everywhere
On every message, profile, channel, talk and podcast. A report keeps a copy of what was reported, so staff can act on it after 3 a.m. Staff can end any room and remove anyone from a live one.
-
Nobody sees your IP address
Voice and video run through our servers, never directly from one person to another.
Struggling tonight? You can call or text 988, the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, at any hour.
Podcasts
What is a podcast on Darkhaus?

- Host
- On camera, or voice only
- Stage
- Speakers, by voice
- Hands
- Raised by listeners; the host brings them up and sends them back down
- Chat
- Alongside, for everyone listening
Questions
What would you ask?
When does Darkhaus open?
Soon. There’s no date yet, and we won’t invent one. When there is, it will be on this page.
Is Darkhaus free?
Yes. Darkhaus is free when it opens, and nothing is sold at launch.
Which house am I in, and can I switch?
Your house follows your time zone: Eastern, Central, Mountain or Pacific. You can change it once every 30 days.
Is Darkhaus anonymous?
No. Everyone has a profile that stays, with a picture and a short bio, and anyone can browse it at any hour. Your list of the people you want to talk to is private to you.
Can anyone see my IP address?
No other user can. All voice and video goes through our servers, and no one ever connects directly to anyone else.
Is anything recorded?
No. Voice and video aren’t recorded or transcribed, and no AI listens to them. The night’s messages are deleted at 3 a.m.; a reported message is kept so staff can review it, and backups expire on the host’s schedule.
Why only midnight to 3 a.m.?
Those are the hours when it’s hardest to find anyone awake. Keeping them in every house means everyone inside is up when you are, and what you said at 2 a.m. isn’t waiting for you at 2 p.m.
Why only the US?
Each house keeps the hours of one time zone, so Darkhaus starts with the four time zones of the continental US.
Is Darkhaus a dating app?
No. Darkhaus is for talking, listening and hosting. There’s no dating and no adult content, and it’s for adults only, 18 and over.
What do I use it on?
Your browser, on a phone or a computer. Android and iPhone apps will follow; there’s no date for them yet.
Know someone who’s up at 2 a.m.?
Send them this page. Darkhaus opens soon, in four US time zones.
